Carbonwave Project Haeder

Carbonwave Project

Expected to reduce 465,000 CO₂e tonnes over five years

Sargassum, once limited to a small area of the Atlantic, now blooms uncontrollably across the Caribbean and Mexico, damaging coastal ecosystems, releasing methane, contaminating groundwater, and obstructing marine life.

Carbonwave collects and transforms this seaweed before it decomposes, converting it into sustainable, plant-based products like cosmetic ingredients, fertilizers, and plastic alternatives, turning an environmental threat into climate-positive innovation.

Project Objectives

Biodiversity

Harvesting Sargassum to restore oceans and protect biodiversity.

Carbon Credits

Generating high-integrity carbon credits by preventing methane emissions.

Plant-Based

Replacing fossil fuels with sustainable plant-based alternatives.

Job Prosperity

Creating quality jobs in the Caribbean region.

Methodology

Gold Standard methodology for collecting sargassum and other macroalgae to prevent emissions from decomposition and enable beneficial use.

Waterhouse River Carbon Project

Northern Territory, Australia

Located east of Katherine, the Waterhouse River Carbon Project is regenerating vast cattle country and partnering with local Indigenous communities to restore native vegetation and improve land management across 139,200 hectares.

Mozambique Blue Carbon Project

Sofala and Zambezia provinces, Mozambique

Located along Mozambique’s Sofala and Zambezia coastlines, the MozBlue Project is restoring and protecting 140,000 hectares of mangroves to strengthen coastal resilience, support biodiversity, and create sustainable livelihoods through community-led blue carbon initiatives.

Lumagra Project

Papua New Guinea

Lumagra (formerly NIHT Topaiyo) is Papua New Guinea’s only active REDD+ project operating outside the national moratorium. Spanning 1.6 million hectares across New Ireland and East New Britain, the project is transitioning to Viridios Capital’s management and aims to issue VCUs by Q4 2026. Through partnerships with Landholder Groups and community organisations, Lumagra protects critical forest ecosystems while delivering long-term environmental, social, and economic benefits to local communities.
